The David Winter Legacy Award

This page is dedicated in loving memory of

David Asher Lynn Winter

06/16/06-12/09/15

In 2015, nine-year-old David Winter was a member of Legacy Christian Academy. In December of 2015 David went to be with Jesus when he was tragically struck by a vehicle. David was a part of the LCA family and we all feel his loss. As we seek to honor David’s memory, please be diligent in praying for the Winter family.

A Note from the Winter Family about David:

David was not a saint – he was not perfect. He was a boy, a kid, just like all other kids. He smacked people when he walked past them. He put his dirty clothes under the bed. He talked a lot and bugged people, he was loud – very loud at times. He would not let you ignore him, even if you tried. He was sneaky at skipping school work, brushing his teeth, sneaking candy and cookies. He got the mail and answered the phone when it wasn’t his turn. He was a kid just like every other kid!

David liked to have fun and wanted you to have fun too. He was kind hearted and a thinker – thinking of and noticing the needs of others. He let others go first and would give things to others – sometimes his personal treasures such as a picture, a note, an ice cream cone. He liked to do things for others like running to get something for them, putting something away, or opening a door. He liked to serve. When he wanted something he would often give the same thing to others, like snacks. He would fix a plate of snacks and a pitcher of lemonade serving it to people who were working. He liked to buy or give others ice cream cones. Life wasn’t all about him it was about others too.

We are very thankful to be a part of Legacy Christian Academy. God brought us together with you for a reason…He knew the important role each of you would play in our lives. Especially the year of 2015/2016. We want to “personally” thank each and everyone of you for all of your love and support. Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone and giving us hugs, asking how we are doing, sharing your memories of David with us and listening as we talk about David. He still is and always will be, an important part of our family. Thank you for loving David and remembering him with us.

We love you all,
John and Carole
Andrew, Aaron and Joanna

A Note from Randy & Liz about David:

We remember David as an energetic, cheerful, excited and happy boy. He always found us on Class Days to say “Hello, Mr. & Mrs. Mains!” He always invited us to visit his church and we’re pretty sure he was never without a smile on his face. We are so thankful to have known David, even though our time with him was short, his joy was infectious and will always be cherished!
