Date:  Friday, October 18, 2019

Arrival: All groups arriving by car should meet in the Kauffman Center’s Brandmeyer Great Hall (Level 4) by 11am.

Please make every effort to be on time.  When the ushers are ready to seat us as a group, we must be ready. Thank you for respecting the venue and the valuable time of your fellow LCA families.  Allow for traffic, parking, restroom break etc. Upon arrival inside the Kauffman Center, let an usher know you are with Legacy Christian Academy. Concert begins at 11:30am.

Concert Title:  Young People’s Concert

Description:  Join the Kansas City Symphony for a festive exploration of music throughout the Americas. Students will learn about musical traditions in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Peru, Brasil and the United States through rhythmic exploration, song and dance

Cost:  $2.50 all ages, including infants.

Limit:  There are 75 tickets available for the concert.

Ages:  Curriculum is designed for grades 3-6.  However, all ages are welcome! These concerts are always AMAZING.  Younger students and students through high school are welcome.  Obviously, if you have very young children, you will need to exit the concert hall should they become disruptive.  Thank you for being considerate of others.

Length:  About one hour

Seating:  Legacy has no control over our seating location in the concert hall.

Parking:  Parking is available in the Arts District Garage for $3 on concert days.  Free street parking is also available on surrounding streets including 17th, Wyandotte, Baltimore and Broadway.

Concert Etiquette:  Your group will be seated by KCS and KCPA volunteers. • When you arrive in the hall, you will see musicians warming up on stage. When it is time for the concert to begin, the lights will dim and a staff member will give brief announcements. • The orchestra will tune. • The conductor will enter and ask the orchestra to stand. Applause for the conductor and orchestra is welcome at this time. • Throughout the concert, applause is also welcome after each piece. You will know when it is time to applaud when the conductor lowers his arms and turns to face the audience. • Students may also be asked to participate at various times throughout the concert. Please listen closely to instructions given from the stage. • Out of courtesy to your neighbors, please do not talk during the performance. • Flash photography, audio recording and video recording are not permitted during the concert. • Please make sure all electronic devices are switched off during the performance. AFTER THE CONCERT • Please remain in your seats until your group is dismissed

Attire:  While it is not required, some people “dress up”  for these symphony concerts.

The Fine Print

Parent!  If you are unable to attend the field trip, you are welcome to make arrangements for a grandparent or another LCA parent to act as chaperone for your child(ren).   Your student doesn’t have to miss out because you cannot attend! Let’s help each other out so the maximum number of students can have the field trip experience!

Waiver:  Your family must have a signed Field Trip Waiver on file.  One waiver covers the entire school year. Include anyone in your family (parent, grandparent, student) who might attend a field trip during the school year.

Commit:  Your online registration is your 100% commitment to attend the field trip.  Venues staff according to the number of people we tell them are coming.  Thank you for respecting the venue and keeping LCA’s good reputation in the community.  Unless you have an illness or emergency, we will see you there!

CONDUCT: Parents are responsible for their children (regardless of age) AT ALL TIMES.  No students should be left anywhere unattended!  LCA family conduct while on FTs must be above reproach.  Not only are we representing LCA in public, but we are also witnesses for Christ to a non-believing world.

NOTE:  It is impossible to predict every scenario that may or may not happen while on a field trip.  THANK YOU for being patient, flexible, and gracious!
